Fishing Trawler Demolition

Dismantling of Trawler in Lancaster

Hardcore Crushing Ltd are proud to announce the launch (forgive the pun) of our ‘Marine Demolition Division’ having been set the task of dismantling a 60 foot long 16 foot wide fishing trawler, weighing in at 58 tonnes, all of which had been submerged in Glasson Dock, Lancaster.

The trawler sank back in June this year and Lancashire Fire and Rescue Service initially contained the pollution fall-out and worked alongside multi-agency partners to mitigate the environmental impact and arrange for the boat to be lifted onto dry land.

We were contacted by ‘Diving Survey & Marine Contracting UK’ and asked to submit a proposal for dismantling the fishing trawler and clearing the site and we were delighted to win this unusual contract.

During the dismantling works we reclaimed all the curved oak beams, which formed main structural hull and we also rescued to main Boat House structure, which we are sure can be recycled into something imaginative!

So; whilst it might be some time before we’re tackling the demolition of North Sea oil rigs we can now boast having ‘dipped our toe’ into marine dismantling works and happy to report that the works were undertaken within programme and to budget.
