Stockport Demolition Project
Completed on budget and ahead of schedule
We recently tendered and won a demolition contract direct for Lidl GB Ltd for a new supermarket in Reddish, Stockport. The works included asbestos removal and then demolition of above-ground structures, which were a dangerous liability and had been targeted by vandals and thieves.
Our initial programme was to be on site for approximately 6 weeks in total, and as we started the first week in December, the plan was to get as much of the structure as possible stripped-out and demolished in the 3 weeks up to the Christmas holidays and then continue for a further 3 weeks into January. As it happened, with some extra effort by the team on-site, we had the whole structure stripped-out and on the ground within 15 days and then returned on 4th January for 4 days to crush and recycle all the concrete, brickwork and other hard materials generated to produce a stockpile of good recycled hardcore for the Client to use in the construction of the new store.
Overall we completed the demolition within budget and 2 weeks early, despite finding some additional asbestos within the structure that needed to be dealt with by our specially licenced asbestos remover.
